As spring time continues to approach, not quickly enough, there is one thing I am more excited about than anything else. I’m sure all your gardeners will agree, the best part of the summer is the garden fresh vegetables! I grow so many vegetables in my garden, there is no way I could use them all myself. I give many away to family and friends, and store some in jars if at all possible. What types of vegetables do you grow in your garden?
I grow basically everything. My favorite would have to be my tomatoes and my squash. When the squash gets ripe, I love to cut them up in thin pieces, dip them in eggs then in French bread crumbs and throw them in the frying pan. They are very good and healthy as well- I can taste them now as I write about them.
Another great thing about growing your own vegetables is the opportunity to keep them free from any pesticides and chemicals- which I do. I use only natural methods within my vegetable garden and you know what- they grow just as well and I don’t have to worry about subjecting my family to harsh chemicals that can be dangerous. Especially because my children like to take them from the fridge and eat them whole. If you look at your local garden center, you’ll notice they sell a lot of treatments that can be used on the vegetables, yet contain no harmful chemicals. You can also find a variety of homemade concoctions by doing a simple Internet search.
